Below is a piece that I finished in the middle of March. Unfortunately, I couldn't show it to you until now. This piece was commissioned for a Scoutmaster who was stepping down after many successful years of being the Scoutmaster. Couldn't show it until now since the celebration for his retirement wasn't until this week. Hope you all enjoy!
Howdy everyone! Along with doing a portrait of him. The Troop also wanted to recognize his wife for all that she had done and given up so that he could perform all of the duties of a Scoutmaster. With this in mind they also commissioned a portrait of her. Here is how hers turned out. Hope you all enjoy!

Howdy everyone! A few weeks ago I put up an in progress shot of my next Edgar Allan Poe piece "The Oval Portrait." Since then I have worked at creating the image that will go into the frame. Here is the text that I was working with while coming up with the subject. The portrait, I have already said, was that of a young girl. It was a mere head and shoulders, done in what is technically termed a vignette manner; much in the style of the favorite heads of Sully. The arms, the bosom, and even the ends of the radiant hair melted imperceptibly into the vague yet deep shadow which formed the back-ground of the whole." Without further delay, here is my finished sketch for "The Oval Portrait." So there it is. That is the seventh piece for a story that is in my forthcoming book "Edgar Allan Poe's Tales of the Mind." What do you think the other 3 stories are going to be?
Welcome back everyone! Below is the finished cover for my book of Edgar Allan Poe stories. This was a fun piece to work on. It was one of the first ink drawings that I have done on a toned paper causing me to use both black and white ink. I am happy with the way that it has turned out and may use this technique again later on some more projects. So, without further delay here is the finished piece for the cover! I still have some work to do for the book to be finished. I have four full page images for the beginning of the stories and various spot illustrations to finish before I send it off to print. Stay tuned for more news and a complete list of tales/poems to be included in "Edgar Allan Poe's Tales of the Mind."
Welcome back! As promised I have a value study completed for the cover of my Edgar Allan Poe book, "Edgar Allan Poe's Tales of the Mind". Here is what the front of the book will look like in terms of value. As I mentioned, this piece will have a toned background help set it apart from other images in the book. "Edgar Allan Poe's Tales of the Mind" will be a 152 page collection with ten different tales/poems in it. Here is a description of the book so far: Prepare to enter the mind of Edgar Allan Poe in this collection of ten stories and poems written by the famous American author. As promised last week, here is a preview of some of the stories that will be included in the book:
1. The Black Cat 2. The Masque of the Red Death 3. The Oval Portrait 4. The Raven 5. The System of Dr. Tarr and Prof. Fether 6. The Tell-Tale Heart 7. William Wilson 8. 9. 10. Well there are 7 of the tales that will be included. What do you think the final three tales are going to be? Put your ideas and guesses in the comment section. I will post the final three a little later on. I am shooting for a release by the end of this year. Stay tuned for more news and information! |
