Well it is that exciting time! It is time to reveal the answers and winner of the "Edgar Allan Poe's Tales of the Mind" Contest!
Congratulations to:
M. Lathroum of Maryland!
You are the winner of the "Edgar Allan Poe's Tales of the Mind" Contest and the winner of the first book free when it is released later this year.
For those who were wondering about the answers and what some of the items were, well wonder no more:
2.THE OVAL PORTRAIT A painters palette is a big piece of equipment for the painter
3. THE MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH In the black room at Prince Prospero's party, the Red Death appears under an Ebony clock.
4. THE TELL-TALE HEART Every night when the narrator would enter the Old Man's room he would open a lantern so a single dim ray would fall upon the vulture eye.
5. THE GOLD BUG This one is simply a depiction of the gold bug.
6. THE BLACK CAT The murder weapon is an axe in this tale.
7. THE RAVEN As the title implies, this is a raven.
8. THE IMP OF THE PERVERSE This one was a hard one. In the tale, there are many situations are shown that lead to a conviction. At the end of the tale, the narrator is held in chains.
9. THE SYSTEM OF DR. TARR AND PROF. FETHER In this tale the inmates at the asylum break free and run the asylum. When the doctors break out to take over again the inmates go crazy. They dance, play music and break almost all of the glasses and bottles.
10. THE FACTS IN THE CASE OF M. VALDEMAR This was probably the hardest one to identify. First you had to know what the object was. It is in fact one of the first stethoscopes used and the one that would have been used during the time. This type of instrument would have been used to check on the patient,
M Valdemar.
Congratulations again M. Lathroum. Thank you to everyone who entered the contest!
