Here is something new from my sketch book. I had to do a color comp for a new creature that I will have to create a 3D model for in Maya a little later on in the semester in my Gaming class. Here is a scan of it. I don't usually use watercolor, but I though I would give it a go for the comp.

Happy Thanksgiving Day everyone. On this special day I believe that it is important to show just how thankful we are for what has happened in our lives. I am so thankful for the wonderful supportive family and friends that I have. I am also thankful for everyone in my live as they continue to support me, both in my professional career and in my personal life.
On this day of thanks, I wish everyone the joys of family and friends, health and joy, and peace and love. Enjoy this day. Stay safe and always remember all that you have in your life. Remember that you will always have something to be thankful for, no matter where life takes you. If you can remember that then you will never be alone or down in your life. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Hello all. I will be starting something new on the blog page. I am going to be posting work from my sketchbook. I will be putting up work whether it be just something I sketched, a rough for a project or work that I am doing just to help improve my skills. Check back every so often to see what is going on.
Today's sketch is a master copy of work by Virgil Finlay. His work as inspired me for sometime. I chose to do a master copy of his work to try and improve my cross-hatching technique, something that he is quite renowned for. In a time where we take so much for granted it is very important to let those who we care about know what they mean to us. This is also true for those who have served their country. In a country where service men and women have been praised and at some times protested against, we must still remember the sacrifices that they have given. To anyone who has or who is currently serving in the military of our United States of America, we salute you. Whether you were/are Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marine or reservist know that you are thought of with warmth and love by all whom you have served and protected.
Thank you for your service from Jedediah Kahl Illustration. Good evening everyone.
I am starting a new project and couldn't be more excited! I am starting an illustration based on the work of Edgar Allan Poe. The story that I will be working with is the "Masque of the Red Death". It is a very interesting story that deals with history, social status and selfishness. This story is one of my favorites that Poe wrote during his career. Check this page for updates on how the project is going, for upcoming sketches and images of the ink work and the final piece! |
